While in Miami recently, I went on a tour of Little Havana which included an authentic Cuban lunch.
Our table appetizers included a nice salad and crunchy, sweet plantain chips which I loved.
For my entree, I had a chicken empanada and a half Cuban sandwich. The table was served a large share bowl of Cuban black beans and rice for our side. I enjoyed everything.
This Cuban dessert pastry and the Cuban coffee were the highlight of my meal. I unexpectedly loved the Cuban coffee which was very rich yet sweet served in tiny taster glasses. I loved it so much that I had 3 taster cups of the coffee.
Rather large roosters are prominently displayed in front of businesses all over Little Havana. Our tour guide said they were for good luck, but I found with a little research they symbolize strength and power.
My experience was so delightful that I can’t wait to enjoy the wonderful cuisine again.
